NJN Foundation Board of Trustees

Margaret A. Scopelianos

Margaret Scopelianos was elected to the NJN Foundation Board of Trustees on October 1, 2003. She is very active on the Board of Trustees, Co-Chair of the Community Advisory Board and Chair of the Professional Advisory Board for Planned Giving.

Ms. Scopelianos is a Northeast Commercial Banking Market Executive for Government Banking at Bank of America. Prior to this role with Bank of America, she was the Senior Risk Manager for Bank of America’s Global Risk Management Division throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York State.

Before joining Bank of America via FleetBoston in 2002, Ms. Scopelianos held a variety of executive positions at Wachovia/First Union in the northeast. Her most recent role was Managing Director, Corporate & Investment Banking after a promotion in 2000 from Executive Vice President, Corporate Underwriting. In addition to her functional responsibilities at Wachovia, Ms. Scopelianos was a key integration leader in the successful merger of First Fidelity and other institutions. She held a variety of leadership positions including Senior Vice President, Credit Policy, where she played a key role in the successful turnaround of First Fidelity Bank. Ms. Scopelianos’ career began in a number of corporate credit, lending, and sales positions with Chemical Bank and Mellon Bank.

Ms. Scopelianos is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Penn State University with a BA in Economics and Russian Studies, and she attended the International Economics Program at the University of Exeter, Devonshire, England. In addition, she speaks five languages.

Ms. Scopelianos also served as past co-chair of NJ300. In 2005, Ms. Scopelianos was a recipient of the Bergen County YWCA TWIN (“Tribute to Women & Industry”) Award.

As a lifetime member of the Penn State Alumni Association, Ms. Scopelianos was recently appointed to serve on its national board, the Alumni Council, and co-chairs the Budget & Finance Committee.

Ms. Scopelianos resides with her husband and two sons in Whitehouse Station, Hunterdon County.
